Mohammed's family is a household of eleven. Mohammed is a medical student and his brother Ahmad is an IT student, and both have had to pause their studies because of the war. Ahmad had begun and completed his first term of Business Administration.

Marah is a medical student in her second term at Al Azhar. Another young person in the family has just completed secondary school with incredible results, all while living through war, and would like to study Business Administration.

Four more of the children are still at school, and the baby of the family is Adam, who is 3 and has difficulty with speech.

Ziad is a father of three, living with his family in a tent in Khan Younis. He used to work in agriculture and ran a poultry farm. In October 2023 their home was destroyed, along with the farms that were the family's only source of income.

Repeated displacement is very expensive, and sometimes the family has to leave the tents and sleep in the street without shelter. The schools have been destroyed, and the children have lost two years of education.

Ziad also has a serious health condition that needs treatment and checkups every two months, with the health system collapsed. The family needs help to cover food, essentials, medical care and, if possible, travel abroad for treatment.

In Ziad's words: "Any amount is greatly appreciated."

Alaa and Raghda's story

Alaa and his wife Raghda
Identity verified Location verified Documents verified

Alaa is a 28 year old electrical engineer. He and his wife Raghda, 25, had only recently married and dreamed of a small home where they could live close to their family in safety. Alaa's sister Suhair and her husband Murad, with their three young children, are part of the same household.

The war destroyed the business Alaa and Raghda had built together, and scarred the family home. The factory where Alaa worked was destroyed, and with no internet or electricity he can no longer do the online work he used to support the family. The family has been displaced several times, from the north of Gaza to the centre and the south and back again.

Alaa's health also limits the kind of work he can do, and he has not been able to keep up his medical follow-up during the war. Like every family we support, they are asking for help to get through each day and to build a safer, more stable future.

Ghada is 23 and lives in Gaza. She is writing for her whole family: her parents and her five siblings, the youngest of them Hamza, who is just 5 years old.

The war destroyed the family home. Ghada's father is too weak to work, and her brother Odeh, who used to support the family, lost everything he had. Now the family has almost nothing left.

Ghada says they are struggling to get enough food and clean water, and the youngest children are the hardest hit. Even a small donation can mean a meal.

Tareq crouching among rubble
Identity verified Location verified Documents verified

Tareq is 19 years old and has lost almost everything he once had. His basic needs have become difficult to afford. He is struggling to find food and clean drinking water, while also trying to continue his education and pay his university fees.

At 19, he should be thinking about his future, his studies and building a better life. Instead, even the simplest necessities are a daily challenge.

Support can help Tareq with food and basic necessities, clean drinking water, and university tuition and educational expenses. If you are unable to donate, sharing his story with friends, family and your networks would also mean a great deal.

In Tareq's words: "I am asking for your support not only to get through today, but to have a chance to continue my education and rebuild my future. Thank you for reading my story, for caring, and for standing beside me."

Ahmed is 20 years old. He was a new, enthusiastic computer engineering student, and had completed one year at university when the war forced him to stop. He lives with his mother, his sister and his two brothers.

The family left their home in the east of Khan Younis on 7 October and has been displaced about nine times since, to the middle of Gaza, to schools and shelters, to Al-Mawasi, and back to a damaged home again and again.

Zain is 18 and from Gaza. He was 15 when the war began, and he has grown up carrying a responsibility far beyond his years, helping his family and providing for their needs.

The family lost their home, their farms and their memories. For three years Zain did not see his house, and when he finally did, it was destroyed. All he and his family want now is food, and a tent to protect them from the cold and rain.

Through all of it, Zain did not give up his education. He studied for his high school diploma (Tawjihi) in extremely difficult conditions and achieved a 99% average. He is determined to complete his studies, and the family needs help to buy food and basic necessities.

Abdullah is a graphic designer from Gaza. He spent years working towards his dream of becoming a successful designer, and built his own company.

He has lost his job, his company, his home, members of his family, his neighbours and his friends. Abdullah and his family are now displaced in the north of Gaza, sleeping on the street without shelter, clean water, internet or enough food, with food prices far beyond what the family can afford.

Abdullah is asking for urgent, direct help to feed his children and his family, and hopes one day to reach a safer place where they can live in peace.

Tareq lives in Gaza with his wife, his children, his mother and his brothers, thirteen people in all, from babies under two to adults. His home in the north east of Gaza is in ruins, and the family painting and building maintenance business they ran has been badly damaged.

Since October 2023 they have been displaced again and again, through Nuseirat, Deir al-Balah, al-Zawaida and Khan Younis, and are now split between Rafah and Deir al-Balah. They struggle to find enough food and clean water. Tareq's father needs regular medication for chronic illnesses, and another family member needs a small operation that Gaza's health system can no longer provide.

A 7 year old boy in the family urgently needs specialised treatment that is not available in Gaza. The family holds a medical referral from the World Health Organization and is asking for help to speed up his medical evacuation. In the meantime they need support with food and with the cost of travelling from southern to northern Gaza before he can leave.

If you can help connect the family with a hospital, a medical or humanitarian organisation, or a country willing to treat him, please email Asafeercharity@gmail.com.
